We are Michael and Rose Cantrell, a Filipino-American couple living our best life here in the U.S. Pacific Northwest. Rose is from Zamboanga City, Philippines and I am from North Carolina, USA. We met in 2002, and for a decade, while Rose’s annulment, then her fiancée visa went through the processes, I would visit her in the Philippines twice a year. I have come to love the Philippines, and the people there.
We started our YouTube channel in 2006 while Rose was still in the Philippines. Rose would email me recipes for Filipino food, and I would use my video camera to film myself making the dishes in my apartment’s kitchen in Oregon.
We started the YouTube channel as an easy way for me to share the videos with Rose while we were still oceans apart. Before long we began to get subscribers, which came as a surprise to us!
When Rose finally arrived in America in December 2012, we married and she happily took over the kitchen and domestic work. We discovered a large and vibrant Filipino-American community here in our little city of Roseburg!
