Sakura Sushi

Our first meal back in town was Sakura Sushi. I love sushi!  πŸ£ Rose doesn’t, but she likes their rice bowls πŸ›, so there’s something for us both there!

Until Next Year!

The week is over, but we’ll see each other again soon!

Yay! Halo-Halo! (Mix-Mix!)

This confection, in many variations, is ubiquitous in the Philippines. You need some shaved ice, cream, leche flan, candied fruits, some ube ice cream, and whatever else strikes your fancy!

Wine & Charcuterie Tonight!

My New Fishing Pole!

I forgot to bring my fishing tackle, so I had to go into the North Bend Walmart to get some stuff. I found this nifty little pocket rod called a “Pro-FISH-iency” Pocket Combo. Nice!

Pork Hock Adobo

Rose made pork adobo for dinner, using pork hocks. I love pork adobo. It’s very full flavored, simmering the meat in vinegar, soy sauce and 7-Up…yep, 7-Up. This makes very flavorful meat and a rich broth that goes nicely over steamed rice. It’s typically served with fresh sliced cucumbers, whose light, delicate flavor balances the robust flavors of the adobo.

Scallops garlic at 7 Seven Thai

Its the first dinner of our August vacation and we went out to our favorite place...7 Seven Thai. We decided to be a bit adventerous and try something new. We got the Scallops garlic, which consisted of several big fat scallops, sauteed with brocolli, carots and cabbage over a bed od noodles. Very nice!

Checking Out Bar Run

We checked out Bar Run this afternoon! There’s an RV park, a golf course, and a swimming pool with a lazy river. It would be great summertime fun for a family with kids!

Willowherb

Genus Epilobium, an interesting weed with dehiscent seed pods. When you touch a ripe pod, the seeds fly out like they're spring-loaded. They'll take over your garden if you let them.
